Deck overview

This deck executes a Boros aggro-stax strategy that leverages asymmetric taxes to slow down opponents while curving into overwhelming combat steps. In the early game, pieces like Authority of the Consuls, Imposing Sovereign, and War's Toll constrain opposing mana and tempo. The midgame establishes resilient flying and ground beaters such as Battle Angels of Tyr and Balor. On Turn 6, casting Aurelia, the Warleader unleashes immediate double-combat pressure, doubling attack triggers and dealing lethal combat damage across multiple rotations. Backup engines like Moraug, Fury of Akoum and True Conviction ensure high lethality even without the commander, while an incidental infinite life combo between Famished Paladin and Resplendent Mentor provides a massive life buffer. While vulnerable to heavy sweeper-dense pods due to light card tutoring, the combination of disruptive stax and relentless combat steps enables decisive table finishes.
