Deck overview

Chevill, Bane of Monsters heads a Golgari control deck that turns targeted creature removal into steady card advantage, life gain, and board presence. The game plan centers on using inexpensive removal spells and fight effects to eliminate marked threats, triggering Chevill and death-scaling payoffs like Kraven the Hunter, Yahenni, and Vadmir. The deck converts this attrition into victory through several distinct lines. It can assemble an infinite creature and mana loop using Basking Broodscale equipped with Blade of the Bloodchief, Tarrian's Soulcleaver, or Sadistic Glee. Alternatively, it wins via an alternate win condition with Revel in Riches, massive life-draining turns with Bolas's Citadel, or reanimating opponent armies with Grave Betrayal.
