Deck overview

This deck is a Sultai midrange strategy commanded by Zaxara, the Exemplary, designed to generate overwhelming board presence and mana velocity through variable-mana X-spells. The game plan focuses on deploying early ramp on Turns 1–2 to cast Zaxara on Turn 3, unlocking immediate two-mana ramp and a free X/X Hydra token whenever an X-spell is cast. Mid-game turns leverage counter-multipliers such as Doubling Season, Branching Evolution, and Unbound Flourishing alongside power-based card draw from Garruk's Uprising and The Great Henge. Without relying on infinite untap combos, the deck achieves decisive lethality between Turns 6 and 7 through massive mana scaling into Torment of Hailfire, Exsanguinate, or an unblockable, trampling combat assault amplified by Finale of Devastation and Kalonian Hydra. While vulnerable to mass exile and heavy control, its layered draw engines and standalone threats ensure swift mid-game recovery.
