Deck overview

This deck is a Dimir Midrange Control deck commanded by Vren, the Relentless. Its strategy combines an extensive suite of low-cost creature removal and edicts with an aggressive tribal token payoff. When Vren is on the battlefield, opposing creatures that would die are exiled instead, shutting down graveyard recursion and death triggers. At each end step, Vren turns those exiled creatures into Relentless-style Rat tokens that scale in power and toughness with every Rat you control. As the board grows, payoffs such as Ashcoat of the Shadow Swarm, Valley Rotcaller, Piper of the Swarm, and Karumonix, the Rat King provide massive stat boosts, life drain, and evasion. The deck controls opposing creature boards while building an exponential combat threat, ultimately overwhelming the table in sequential combat steps around Turn 9.
