Deck overview

This deck is a classic Simic stompy strategy built around Kiora, Sovereign of the Deep. It leverages low-cost land ramp and mana artifacts to deploy Kiora ahead of curve on Turn 4. Beginning on Turn 5, the deck casts high-cost Krakens, Leviathans, Octopuses, and Serpents, triggering Kiora to look at the top X cards and cheat another high-value spell directly onto the battlefield. This pseudo-cascade mechanism quickly doubles the deck's board presence. The deck converts this immense physical pressure into a game finish through unblockable effects like Serpent of Yawning Depths or one-sided sweepers such as Whelming Wave and Scourge of Fleets. Built-in protection on key threats, supplemented by cheap counterspells and Heroic Intervention, allows the pilot to safeguard the board long enough to deliver lethal combat damage across two turns. Standalone engines like Koma, Cosmos Serpent and Hullbreaker Horror ensure that the deck functions seamlessly even without its commander.
