Deck overview

This Golgari deck leverages Sarulf, Realm Eater as both a scaling Voltron win condition and a repeatable board wipe engine. The game plan focuses on casting Sarulf on Turn 3, then systematically dismantling opposing boards with cheap spot removal, edicts, and fight effects. Each destroyed opposing permanent fuels Sarulf with +1/+1 counters. On Turn 5, Sarulf threatens either an asymmetric upkeep wipe that exiles opposing low-mana permanents or a lethal commander damage assault. A dense suite of one-mana and two-mana protection spells shields Sarulf from opposing interaction, while cards like Rogue's Passage and Tarrian's Soulcleaver grant evasion and exponential growth. The deck also includes an infinite combo between Basking Broodscale and Tarrian's Soulcleaver, generating unbounded mana and counters. While vulnerable to early disruption without protection mana, the deck exerts crushing mid-game attrition against permanent-based strategies.
