Mindskinner: The Miller

Format: Commander

Commander: The Mindskinner

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

This mono-blue deck is a dedicated mill strategy helmed by The Mindskinner, a 10/1 unblockable creature that converts all combat damage from your sources into milling. The primary game plan is to deploy the commander early, protect it with a handful of boots and tax effects, and grind out opponents by milling ten cards each turn (doubled to twenty with Bruvac the Grandiloquent). Secondary win conditions include the backbreaking combo of Bruvac + Maddening Cacophony (kicked) to instantly empty one opponent's library, and a suite of static mill engines like Mesmeric Orb, Sphinx's Tutelage, and Memory Erosion that accumulate value over time. The deck has a moderate clock and relies on its commander for the primary pressure, but can also win without it via the Bruvac combo or mass-mill sorceries. The deck's speed is tempered by a lack of efficient tutors and a heavy reliance on artifacts (roughly 30% of nonland cards), making it vulnerable to hate pieces like Rest in Peace or Null Rod.
