Deck overview

This Orzhov deck operates as a high-powered lifegain, aristocrats, and control hybrid led by Niv-Mizzet, Ghost Counsel. The primary strategy focuses on establishing early low-cost lifegain and tax engines using cards like Soul Warden, Authority of the Consuls, and Kambal, Consul of Allocation. Once the commander resolves on Turn 5, every instance of lifegain converts into massive card draw by paying life, rapidly refilling your hand. The deck translates this card advantage into decisive win conditions on Turns 6–7, either by resolving Approach of the Second Sun, doubling life and drawing into critical mass with Beacon of Immortality, or executing an infinite aristocrat drain loop via Forsaken Miner, Warren Soultrader (or Phyrexian Altar), and Elas il-Kor, Sadistic Pilgrim. A comprehensive suite of silence spells and free protection ensures that win attempts are heavily shielded from opponent interaction.
