Deck overview

This Grixis deck is an explosive Spellslinger Combat Storm strategy commanded by Fire Lord Azula. The game plan revolves around deploying Azula by Turn 3 or 4, attacking to generate {R}{R} of combat-exclusive mana, and duplicating every instant or flashed spell cast while attacking. This ability turns modest combat tricks like Bulk Up into lethal commander damage bursts, while draw spells like Big Score and Unexpected Windfall produce overwhelming card and Treasure advantage. A redundant suite of magecraft and prowess payoffs—including Storm-Kiln Artist, Veyran, Voice of Duality, Archmage Emeritus, and Bria, Riptide Rogue—enables the deck to pivot smoothly between Voltron eliminations and full-table storm finishes using Exsanguinate, Grapeshot, or the Haze of Rage buyback loop. Backed by free protection spells like Deflecting Swat and efficient interaction, the deck presents a fast, resilient clock that routinely closes games by Turn 6.
