Commander: Hazel of the Rootbloom

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Hazel of the Rootbloom commands a Golgari Squirrel tribal deck that blends swarm token generation with aristocrat life-drain strategies and explosive mana acceleration. Hazel converts untapped tokens into flexible mana while duplicating a token each end step, creating two copies if it is a Squirrel. The primary win condition relies on assembling wide boards with token engines like Deep Forest Hermit and Chatterfang, Squirrel General, then converting them into lethal damage using drain permanents like Mirkwood Bats and Marionette Apprentice. Alternatively, the deck taps massive token armies with Hazel to fuel game-ending spells like Exsanguinate or overruns opponents through anthem effects like Chitterspitter.
