Deck overview

This Sultai deck harnesses Zaxara, the Exemplary to turn every {X} spell into both an impactful play and a scaling creature threat. The deck ramps aggressively on turns one and two to deploy Zaxara on turn three. From turn four onward, every {X} spell casts creates a 0/0 Hydra token with X +1/+1 counters, while simultaneously triggering card draw engines like Up the Beanstalk and Garruk's Uprising. As the game progresses, counter doublers such as Branching Evolution, Doubling Season, and The Earth Crystal rapidly inflate creature power. Finishing lines revolve around unblockable or trample Hydra combat, backed by mass drain spells like Torment of Hailfire and Exsanguinate fueled by big-mana generators such as Elementalist's Palette and Selvala, Heart of the Wilds.
