Deck overview

This mono-black deck is helmed by Sheoldred, the Apocalypse, functioning as an attrition control and combo strategy. The deck weaponizes symmetrical draw effects, turning routine card draws into substantial life swings that steadily drain opponents while building a large life buffer. Its primary win condition pairs Sheoldred with massive self-draw spells such as Peer into the Abyss or the infinite draw synergy of Lich's Mastery. Drawing half the library or entire deck with Sheoldred on the battlefield generates tens of points of life, which feeds directly into a lethal Sickening Dreams or massive Exsanguinate to eliminate all opponents in a single turn. The list supports this game plan with a remarkably dense package of 1-mana undying protection spells and equipment, comprehensive creature removal, and big-mana lands like Cabal Coffers. While vulnerable to noncreature permanents and stack counterplay, it executes a swift and lethal mid-game finish.
