Commander: The Gitrog, Ravenous Ride

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

The Gitrog, Ravenous Ride is the center of this Golgari value deck: it attacks with haste, gets saddled by a high-power creature, and turns that creature's death into a burst of draws and a land-dump. The primary plan is to accelerate into the commander, bin or reanimate large threats, then use every Gitrog hit to flood the battlefield with lands and trigger landfall payoffs. Secondary paths are Psychosis Crawler drain, Exsanguinate, and combat under Unnatural Growth or Zopandrel, Hunger Dominus. There is no hidden commander; Varolz, the Scar-Striped is a utility piece for scavenging power onto key creatures.
