Deck overview

This deck is a mono-black group-slug and attrition strategy commanded by Sheoldred, the Apocalypse. The primary game plan converts symmetric card draw into an asymmetric life drain engine. By deploying early mana rocks, the deck aims to cast Sheoldred on Turn 3 or 4, immediately following up with forced-draw and wheel effects like Howling Mine, Font of Mythos, Dark Deal, and Teferi's Puzzle Box. These pieces turn every opponent's draw step into direct life loss while keeping the pilot's life total safely elevated. Burst finishers such as Peer into the Abyss and Exsanguinate provide decisive closing power, supported by mana doublers like Crypt Ghast and K'rrik, Son of Yawgmoth. The removal suite features efficient instant-speed answers for creatures, planeswalkers, and enchantments, though the deck lacks artifact removal. While providing opponents extra cards presents inherent removal risk, redundant drain pieces and reactive protection allow the deck to outrace the table.
