Format: Commander

Commander: Smaug the Impenetrable

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Smaug, the Impenetrable is a treasure-generating burn commander. The deck resolves Smaug, then points noncombat damage at him so his indestructible body creates Treasures. Sweepers like Star of Extinction or repeated pings from Pestilence and Pyrohemia turn damage into a huge Treasure hoard. That hoard is then sacrificed through Mirkwood Bats, Nadier's Nightblade, Marionette Apprentice, or Mayhem Devil to drain every opponent. Academy Manufactor multiplies each Treasure into a Clue, Food, and Treasure, making the drain turn lethal. There and Back Again acts as a hidden Smaug, creating a dragon token that dies into fourteen Treasures. The commander can also close games through hasty 8/7 attacks.
