Deck overview

This Ghalta, Primal Hunger deck is a focused Mono-Green Stompy strategy designed to deploy massive, undercosted creatures and cast its 12/12 trampling commander for just {G}{G} by Turn 4. The deck utilizes efficient mana dorks like Llanowar Elves and Birds of Paradise on Turn 1 to accelerate into high-power, low-mana beaters such as Steel Leaf Champion, Pugnacious Hammerskull, and Gigantosaurus. Once ten power is assembled on board, Ghalta enters at an efficient rate and demands immediate answers. Card advantage engines like Garruk's Uprising, Elemental Bond, and Rishkar's Expertise leverage the high power on board to maintain a full hand, while a dedicated suite of low-cost instant-speed protection spells—including Heroic Intervention, Tamiyo's Safekeeping, and Tyvar's Stand—shields key threats against targeted removal and sweepers. The deck closes games around Turn 7 through decisive trample damage boosted by overrun effects like Overwhelming Stampede and Unnatural Growth.
