Deck overview

This Golgari deck centers on Grist, Voracious Larva, utilizing an aggressive self-mill and reanimation strategy to flood the board with Insect tokens and graveyard-derived value. By transforming Grist into Grist, the Plague Swarm on Turn 4 with low-cost reanimation spells, the deck establishes a steady engine of token production, graveyard stocking, and targeted removal. Secondary engines like Six, Zask, Skittering Swarmlord, and Yawgmoth, Thran Physician turn the graveyard into an accessible second hand while converting disposable tokens into cards and board control. The deck steadily builds toward a decisive Turn 6 critical onset using mass reanimation, Grist's copy-all ultimate, or token swarms backed by Aatchik, Emerald Radian and Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest. Opponents receive a single response cycle before a lethal Turn 7 assault of buffed, deathtouch insects and aristocrat drain finishes the table. While vulnerable to graveyard exile and mass sweepers, robust recursion ensures strong recovery.
