Format: Commander

Commander: Gix, Yawgmoth Praetor

Bracket: 2

Deck overview

Gix, Yawgmoth Praetor leads a mono-black attrition deck that trades early combat damage for cards and then converts life loss into a multiplayer win. The primary plan is to deploy cheap evasive creatures, trigger Gix's draw ability while applying chip damage, and wear down three opponents with Mornsong Aria, Twilight Prophet, Gray Merchant, and death-trigger drains. The secondary path uses Gix's activated ability as a late mana sink: empty a large hand into an opponent's top cards and cast them free. Recursion spells and sacrifice effects keep the board present after wipes. Mornsong Aria functions as a hidden commander, replacing draws with searches and taxing life.
