Current Goth Baddie by Mri

Format: Commander

Commander: Fire Lord Azula

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a Grixis spellslinger-firebending hybrid built around Fire Lord Azula. The plan is to deploy Azula, attack to generate combat-only red mana, and then use her attack-triggered copy ability to turn every instant or sorcery cast during combat into two (or more) spells. The primary win lines are a burst finish via a copied Crackle with Power or an infinite-combat loop using Aggravated Assault plus a mana-preservation piece like Ozai, the Phoenix King or Leyline Tyrant. A deep interaction shell of counterspells, free spells, and instant-speed removal buys time to assemble the loop. The commander is the best copy engine, but the 99 contains enough firebending mana, draw, and combo redundancy that the deck can pivot into a long Grixis control game if Azula is answered.
