pirates izzet? by Profferor

Format: Commander

Commander: Brudiclad, Telchor Engineer

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a hyperactive Izzet spells-and-tokens deck that treats Brudiclad, Telchor Engineer as an endgame converter on top of a cantrip/storm shell. The early turns are pure velocity - Ponder, Preordain, Brainstorm, Consider, and Opt dig toward engines like Young Pyromancer, Talrand, Sky Summoner, Murmuring Mystic, and Storm-Kiln Artist, while Sol Ring and both Signets provide the only dedicated ramp. Rituals - Seething Song, Mana Geyser, and Rousing Refrain - set up explosive turns where Elemental Eruption or Haze of Rage fire on a high storm count and Crackle with Power or Insurrection close the game. The deck's defining play is creating a single champion token - a 4/4 Dragon from Elemental Eruption, a 5/5 from Rite of the Dragoncaller, or the Smaug hoard from There and Back Again - then letting Brudiclad turn every Treasure, Bird, and Elemental into a hasted copy. The most deterministic kill is Niv-Mizzet, Parun backed by Curiosity, with Tandem Lookout as a redundant engine.
