Format: Commander

Commander: Smaug the Impenetrable

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Smaug the Impenetrable commands a devastating Rakdos burn and artifact engine that converts noncombat damage into mass Treasure generation. Because Smaug possesses haste, flying, and indestructible, he safely absorbs massive damage sweeps. The primary strategy involves casting the commander, applying repeated or massive noncombat damage to him via Pestilence, Pyrohemia, Self-Destruct, or damage sweeps like Star of Extinction, and generating dozens of Treasures in a single turn. The deck then converts this explosive artifact stockpile directly into victory through drain engines like Marionette Master and Disciple of the Vault, massive damage bursts, or artifact-count win conditions like Revel in Riches and Hellkite Tyrant.
