Deck overview

This mono-black deck leverages lifegain triggers and aristocrat sacrifice engines to drain opposing life totals while building a substantial life buffer. Commanded by Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose, the deck converts every instance of life gain into direct, targeted damage against opponents. Early turns focus on establishing mana rocks and small lifelink creatures such as Gifted Aetherborn and Vampire Nighthawk. Mid-game turns deploy card draw engines like Greed and Tevesh Szat, Doom of Fools alongside death-trigger drains like Bastion of Remembrance and Zulaport Cutthroat. The deck reaches its critical onset around Turn 6 with massive life swings from Gray Merchant of Asphodel, Sorin Markov, or Exsanguinate, finishing the table by Turn 8. Redundant drain effects in Marauding Blight-Priest and Epicure of Blood ensure resilience if the commander is removed, though the lack of stack interaction and artifact removal leaves clear defensive gaps.
