Deck overview

This deck is a classic Mardu political control deck helmed by Queen Marchesa, focusing on the Monarch mechanic, pillowfort defenses, and aikido combat redirection. The early game establishes acceleration through 2-CMC mana rocks and deploys defensive deterrents like Ghostly Prison, Baird, Steward of Argive, and deathtouch blockers. On Turn 4, casting Queen Marchesa introduces the Monarch to generate steady card advantage. Mid-game turns leverage goad effects like Kardur, Doomscourge and Nelly Borca, Impulsive Accuser to force opponents to whittle down each other's life totals while redirecting incoming lethal damage through Inkshield and Deflecting Palm. Once opposing resources are depleted, the deck stabilizes behind powerful sweepers like Farewell and Ruinous Ultimatum, closing the game with continuous token armies from Assemble the Legion, Court of Grace, and Skyline Despot.
