Format: Commander

Commander: Akal Pakal, First Among Equals

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

Akal Pakal, First Among Equals leads a mono-blue artifact tempo/value deck. The primary plan is to flood the board with cheap artifacts, use Akal's end-step trigger to turn artifact ETBs into card advantage, and finish by animating those artifacts with Cyberdrive Awakener or overloaded Rise and Shine, often behind Urza, Lord High Artificer's Construct. Urza effectively acts as a hidden commander and backup engine. A secondary path uses Krark-Clan Ironworks with Myr Retriever and Scrap Trawler plus both cost reducers to generate enormous mana, closing with Walking Ballista or Sai's Thopter swarm. The commander is a draw engine, not an essential combo piece; Mystic Forge, Sai, and The Reality Chip keep the deck functional if Akal is answered. Interaction is counterspell-heavy with cheap bounce to protect key artifacts.
