Deck overview

This deck is a dedicated Mono-Black control and stax strategy built around Tergrid, God of Fright // Tergrid's Lantern. Its game plan focuses on accelerating into Tergrid, then rapidly resolving symmetric sacrifice and discard spells such as Dark Deal, Smallpox, Rankle's Prank, and Braids, Cabal Minion. Tergrid converts opposing losses into overwhelming board presence by stealing every discarded permanent card and sacrificed nontoken permanent. The deck backs this primary engine with high-density black tutors, oppressive resource locks like Oppression, and big-mana payoffs including Cabal Coffers and Torment of Hailfire. While vulnerable to instant-speed removal targeting Tergrid and lacking interaction on the stack, the deck creates inescapable resource disparities that dismantle opposing game plans and close out the game through overwhelming combat damage and massive life drain.
