Dwarf

Format: Commander

Commander: Thorin Oakenshield

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

Thorin Oakenshield leads a Boros Dwarf/Treasure/Equipment swing deck built around the "Storied" mechanic. The plan is to flood the board with Dwarves and Treasure tokens, turn on "enduring story" by controlling three or more artifacts, legendaries, and/or Sagas, then ride a stack of anthems, Equipment, and trigger doublers to a wide combat kill. The commander's main contribution is a global ward {1} blanket over every artifact and creature once the story is rolling, making the swarm frustrating to remove. Wins come from pumped wide attacks with double strike from Dain Ironfoot, explosive Treasure-fueled burn from Smaug the Magnificent and The Reaver Cleaver, or a giant Balin, Loremaster burst that draws a huge hand and deals X to each opponent. The deck is a classic midrange Boros engine: strong incremental value and inevitability, but almost no stack interaction.
