Deck overview

This mono-black control and Aristocrats deck revolves around Avacyn, Angel of Horror to turn standard sacrifice effects into an oppressive engine. The strategy focuses on ramping into Avacyn by Turn 6, pairing her with self-sacrificing edict creatures like Fleshbag Marauder and Plaguecrafter. Because Avacyn returns nontoken creatures to the battlefield at the beginning of the next end step, the edict triggers again at every single player's end step, locking opponents out of maintaining creature boards. Supporting pieces such as Bastion of Remembrance, Zulaport Cutthroat, and Morbid Opportunist convert these repeated deaths into life drain and massive card advantage. While the deck boasts immense resilience against destroy-based board wipes due to Avacyn's self-reanimation trigger, it operates at a deliberate pace, closing games on Turn 10 through commander damage and drain. The list lacks stack interaction and artifact/enchantment removal, making well-timed creature-based stax its primary route to victory.
