Deck overview

This deck is an Orzhov midrange strategy centered on Shilgengar, Sire of Famine, combining tribal Angel beatdown with aristocrat and mass-reanimation mechanics. Early turns focus on mana rocks and low-curve Angels like Giada, Font of Hope and Youthful Valkyrie to establish an aerial board presence and manage life totals. Mid-game turns leverage Shilgengar's sacrifice ability to turn high-toughness Angels into large quantities of Blood tokens while depositing threats into the graveyard. By Turn 6, the deck activates Shilgengar's activated ability, spending three hybrid mana and six Blood tokens to return all creatures from the graveyard to the battlefield. The reanimated army is bolstered by powerful anthems and defensive abilities from cards like Avacyn, Angel of Hope, Righteous Valkyrie, and Serra's Emissary, which overwhelm the table across two combat steps while disruption pieces like Drana and Linvala hinder opposing interaction.
