Deck overview

This mono-green stompy deck harnesses the high-tempo discount and fight mechanics of Gargos, Vicious Watcher to field colossal Hydra threats ahead of curve. The early game establishes rapid mana velocity using cheap elves, land auras, and burst generators like Fanatic of Rhonas. Deploying Gargos on Turn 4 drastically discounts X-cost Hydras, turning modest mana investments into massive board presences. Power-triggered draw engines like Garruk's Uprising and The Great Henge replenish the hand as creatures enter. Targeted utility spells—such as Whip Silk and Tamiyo's Safekeeping—pull double duty by protecting your board and triggering Gargos to fight down opposing utility creatures and blockers. The deck closes the game on Turns 5 to 6 through overwhelming trample damage, counter doubling via Kalonian Hydra, or an unblockable push with Triumph of the Hordes.
