Deck overview

This is a Gruul token-sacrifice/beatdown deck built around Thromok the Insatiable. The plan is to flood the board with cheap token spells like Dragon Fodder, Krenko's Command, and Hordeling Outburst, then cast Thromok and devour the entire swarm. Since Thromok enters with X +1/+1 counters for each devoured creature, eating five creatures makes him 25/25; eating seven makes him 49/49. The deck then wins either through one-hit commander damage via Rogue's Passage and Kessig Wolf Run, by converting his size into a table-kill with Soul Immolation, or by leveraging his power into a one-turn Overwhelming Stampede go-wide kill. Backup token engines like Krenko, Mob Boss, Mycoloth, Avenger of Zendikar, and Tendershoot Dryad give the deck a functional go-wide plan even when Thromok is not available.
