Deck overview

This Mardu deck is a traditional reanimator and control build centered around cheating large, high-impact creatures into play from graveyards while depleting opposing resources through heavy spot removal and attrition. Led by Tariel, Reckoner of Souls, the deck can steal threats from opponents' graveyards, though it primarily seeks to bin and reanimate its own powerhouse creatures like Archon of Cruelty, Ancient Brass Dragon, and Sheoldred, Whispering One. Because the list runs minimal fast mana and lacks efficient tutors, its early turns are dedicated to pacing the table with efficient spot removal and sweepers like Swords to Plowshares, Anguished Unmaking, and Damnation. Once established on Turn 5 or 6, it locks down creature-based strategies with edict effects and swings for victory over multiple combat cycles, occasionally closing games with large spells like Rise of the Dark Realms or Torment of Hailfire.
