Deck overview

This is a high-tuned blue-black combo-mill deck helmed by Phenax, God of Deception. It plays far more like a compact tutor-and-ritual combo shell than a fair mill pile: the goal is to accelerate into one of many overlapping two-card or three-card kill lines that empty all three libraries in a single turn. Phenax himself is a redundant, indestructible outlet who turns high-toughness creatures such as Eater of the Dead and Consuming Aberration into repeatable mill activations. The primary finishers include Bruvac the Grandiloquent plus a kicked Maddening Cacophony, Painter's Servant + Grindstone, Helm of Obedience + Leyline of the Void, Bloodchief Ascension + Mindcrank, and Isochron Scepter + Dramatic Reversal into an infinite-mana mill outlet. Because most of the combo lines live entirely in the 99, losing Phenax is an inconvenience rather than a death sentence.
