Deck overview

This mono-blue control deck leverages Namor the Sub-Mariner as both a scaling flying threat and a token generator. The strategy revolves around an exceptionally dense suite of roughly 28 ability-stripping Auras—such as Frogify, Witness Protection, and Eaten by Piranhas—that incapacitate opposing commanders on the battlefield while denying commander-zone recasts. Each blue mana symbol in these noncreature spells triggers Namor to create 1/1 Merfolk creature tokens, simultaneously boosting Namor's power. A supporting package of Merfolk tribal lords, including Master of the Pearl Trident and Attuma, Atlantean Warlord, turns the token swarm into an unblockable secondary assault while providing critical card advantage through combat damage triggers. Backed by 12 counterspells to shield against sweepers and disrupt opponent win conditions, the deck locks down the board before eliminating opponents through sequential combat phases. However, the deck remains heavily reliant on Namor to convert its removal spells into board presence, leaving it vulnerable to targeted removal when tapped out.
