Deck overview

This deck is a Mono-Black Midrange and Drain Control strategy built around Sahir, Visitor in Darkness. Sahir weaponizes life loss by granting +1/+1 counters and drawing a card whenever you take self-inflicted damage or lose life for the second time in a turn. The deck leverages low-cost, repeatable self-harm enablers like Blood Celebrant, Wall of Blood, and Mischievous Poltergeist to reliably trigger Sahir's card draw every turn cycle while building a formidable commander damage clock. A dense suite of sweepers such as Toxic Deluge, The Meathook Massacre, and the asymmetric lock of Maha, Its Feathers Night keeps opposing creature boards completely suppressed. In the mid-to-late game, the deck transitions into devastating finishers, leveraging Bolas's Citadel, Peer into the Abyss, and repeated drain loops with Gray Merchant of Asphodel and reanimation spells. While vulnerable to heavy non-creature permanents and rapid burn, the engine delivers steady card flow and explosive drain power.
