Deck overview

This deck is a synergistic Jund midrange engine built around Auntie Ool, Cursewretch and the -1/-1 counter mechanic. It leverages self-blighting creatures and counter distribution to generate substantial card advantage while simultaneously draining opponents' life totals. A dense suite of low-cost acceleration allows the deck to deploy its commander by turn 3 and establish its core engine on turn 4. On turn 5, wide counter-placing threats like Soul Snuffers, Carnifex Demon, and Maha, Its Feathers Night create an oppressive board state, dismantling opposing creature bases and generating large swarms of tokens via Nest of Scarabs and Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons. The deck closes the game across turns 6 and 7 using combat damage from token armies and recurring life drain triggers from Obelisk Spider and Blood Artist. Flexible removal provides strong answers to opposing permanents, while ward triggers and independent backup legends like The Scorpion God provide solid operational resilience.
