Deck overview

This deck is a Grixis Spellslinger midrange strategy commanded by Saruman, the White Hand. Its core game plan revolves around casting noncreature spells to trigger the commander's ability, creating and rapidly growing a massive Orc Army token with built-in ward {2}. The deck leverages cheap cantrips, versatile countermagic, and efficient removal to control the board while expanding its offensive presence. Evasion tools such as The Black Gate, Corsairs of Umbar, and Ring-bearer mechanics ensure the Army connects for lethal combat damage against opposing life totals. Alternate token generators like Lord of the Nazgûl and Sauron, the Dark Lord provide wide-board backup plans. The deck thrives in mid-power games where its blend of interaction, steady card advantage, and scaling creature combat outpaces opposing midrange strategies.
