Deck overview

This deck is a high-velocity Rakdos combo list commanded by Rowan, Scion of War. The primary game plan revolves around casting Rowan early, surviving one turn cycle, and then spending large amounts of life during your turn to reduce the generic mana costs of your black and red spells to near zero. Using repeatable life-loss outlets like Wall of Blood, Treasonous Ogre, or Greed, the deck pays 25 to 36 life in a single turn. Rowan taps to translate this life loss into a massive mana discount, enabling lethal X-cost finishers such as Crackle with Power, Exsanguinate, and Jaya's Immolating Inferno for only two colored mana. The deck can also execute Doomsday piles and Kaboom! burn packages with damage triplers like City on Fire. Efficient reactive cards like Bolt Bend, Pyroblast, and Hexing Squelcher protect the combo turn against countermagic and removal.
