Deck overview

This deck is an Abzan toughness-matters aggro and engine deck commanded by Felothar the Steadfast. It leverages cheap, high-toughness defenders and walls to establish an impenetrable early defense, ramp mana, and build a wide board. Once Felothar or an equivalent backbone card like Assault Formation or Bedrock Tortoise enters the battlefield, every defender instantly becomes an aggressive, high-powered attacker that assigns combat damage using toughness. Felothar also converts high toughness into massive bursts of net card draw, drawing four to five cards per activation with zero discards. The deck breaks parity using heavily asymmetric board wipes like Slaughter the Strong and Expel the Interlopers, which eradicate opposing creatures while leaving low-power defenders untouched. Evasion enablers such as Sidar Kondo of Jamuraa and Behind the Scenes push combat damage through, supported by massive toughness multipliers like Tower Defense and Baldin, Century Herdmaster to eliminate opponents across a reliable 7-turn clock.
