Format: Commander

Commander: Thranduil, the Elvenking

Bracket: 4

Deck overview

This is a Sultai Elf tribal deck that treats the graveyard as a second hand. The commander, Thranduil, the Elvenking, is a 5-mana value engine who matters in two distinct ways: every other legendary Elf you cast draws two cards, and once Elves with activated abilities are in the graveyard, Thranduil can use their abilities himself. That turns dead mana dorks like Llanowar Elves, Elvish Archdruid, and Bloom Tender into repeatable mana sources in the command zone, and opens up specific toolbox lines like Fauna Shaman tutoring from the graveyard. The deck plans to ramp early, fill the graveyard with Elf activations, deploy a critical mass of Elf bodies, then win through a pumped combat step or an overwhelming Finale of Devastation. Secondary paths include Lathril, Blade of the Elves' life-drain activation and massive token generation from landfall Elves. It is a midrange value deck that can play explosively once the commander is online.
