Deck overview

This deck is a Grixis Combo-Control list built around Mairsil, the Pretender. The primary strategy leverages Mairsil's unique ability to inherit activated abilities from caged cards in exile. By using targeted graveyard tutors like Buried Alive, the deck deposits key creature packages—most notably Aetherling, Anthroplasm, and Sage of Hours—into the graveyard. Mairsil enters, cages Aetherling, and flickers himself across end steps to cage the remaining pieces. Once assembled on Turn 6, Mairsil pays five mana to add five +1/+1 counters via Anthroplasm and removes them using Sage of Hours to take an extra turn. Because Mairsil untaps on each extra turn, he loops this activation indefinitely, drawing the library to win with Thassa's Oracle. The deck backs up this core plan with efficient reactive removal, countermagic, and value engines like Asmodeus the Archfiend.
