Deck overview

This deck is an Esper Sphinx tribal stompy and value engine piloted by The Ur-Sphinx. The game plan utilizes The Ur-Sphinx's Eminence ability from the command zone alongside artifact cost reducers like Urza's Incubator and Herald's Horn to deploy formidable flying Sphinxes turns ahead of normal timing. The engine accelerates rapidly on Turn 4 with Unesh, Criosphinx Sovereign or Consecrated Sphinx, refilling the hand and chaining discounted threats. By Turn 5, the deck presents an imposing airborne armada capable of setting life totals to 10 with Magister Sphinx, taking extra turns with Medomai the Ageless, or delivering lethal combat swings via Akroma's Will. Supported by a robust removal suite including Void Rend and Deadly Rollick, alongside asymmetric board resets like Raise the Palisade, the deck efficiently controls the board while maintaining high resilience through built-in ward, hexproof, and potent reanimation spells.
