Deck overview

This mono-black deck is led by Sheoldred, the Apocalypse and focuses on turning the card draw step into a lethal liability for opponents. The strategy pairs Sheoldred with symmetrical forced-draw artifacts such as Teferi's Puzzle Box, Howling Mine, Temple Bell, and Seizan, Perverter of Truth. When opponents draw cards, Sheoldred drains their life totals rapidly while padding your own. Secondary engines like Bolas's Citadel, Necrodominance, and Vilis, Broker of Blood convert high life totals into substantial card volume. The deck controls the board using efficient mono-black removal and protects its commander with cheap reanimation and undying effects. While vulnerable to resolved noncreature permanents and exile removal, the deck applies severe, inevitable table-wide pressure once its core pieces land.
