Deck overview

Grand Arbiter Augustin IV commands an oppressive Azorius Stax and Control deck designed to constrict opponent mana and action economy while advancing toward decisive combo or alternate win conditions. The deck establishes control by combining its commander's asymmetric cost reduction and taxation with lock pieces like Winter Orb, Rule of Law, and Drannith Magistrate. These pieces slow the game down, creating vast resource disparity in tandem with potent draw engines like Rhystic Study and Consecrated Sphinx. The primary route to victory is the two-card combo of Rest in Peace and Helm of Obedience, which exiles an opponent's entire library in a single activation. Alternate win conditions include casting Approach of the Second Sun twice or overwhelming locked tables with Luminarch Ascension Angel tokens. Backed by free countermagic and board wipes, the deck defends its locks ruthlessly and closes games systematically.
