Deck overview

This deck is an Azorius control and spellslinger strategy commanded by Elminster. The primary game plan revolves around leveraging scrying and topdeck manipulation to discount expensive noncreature spells and generate large swarms of 1/1 flying Faerie Dragon tokens. Early turns focus on mana development via artifact ramp and setting up topdeck order with Brainstorm, Ponder, and Scroll Rack. Once Elminster is deployed on Turn 4 or 5, it exiles high-mana-value spells like Dig Through Time or Sea Gate Restoration to create an immediate aerial army, or casts a heavily discounted Approach of the Second Sun. A robust suite of counterspells, spot removal, and sweepers such as Farewell and Cyclonic Rift controls opposing threats, while Teferi's Protection and Clever Concealment safeguard the board until combat damage or the second cast of Approach of the Second Sun closes the game on Turn 7.
