Braids v.4 by vincenz

Format: Commander

Commander: Braids, Arisen Nightmare

Bracket: 3

Deck overview

This is a mono-black sacrifice-and-drain deck helmed by Braids, Arisen Nightmare. The core loop is simple: Braids' end-step trigger forces each opponent to either sacrifice a permanent matching the type you sacrificed or lose 2 life and give you a card. The deck feeds this engine with a steady stream of tokens from Bitterblossom, Jadar, Ghoulcaller of Nephalia, Dreadhorde Invasion, and Ophiomancer, while a robust reanimation package (Reanimate, Animate Dead, Necromancy, Victimize) recurs high-impact creatures. The primary win is a massive Torment of Hailfire or Exsanguinate powered by Cabal Coffers + Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth and Crypt Ghast, with Bloodletter of Aclazotz doubling the drain. Kokusho, the Evening Star and Gray Merchant of Asphodel provide repeatable drain loops as a secondary path, and the deck packs a dense suite of instant-speed removal and free interaction to protect its game.
