Deck overview

This mono-black deck is helmed by Tergrid, God of Fright // Tergrid's Lantern and focuses on ruthless resource denial through symmetrical discard and sacrifice effects. By converting opposing losses into direct board presence, the deck turns routine edicts and hand-stripping spells into massive tempo swings. Early turns focus on establishing mana and setting up taxing enchantments such as Oppression or Bottomless Pit. Once Tergrid lands, multi-target discard spells like Burglar Rat and Mind Rake steal opposing lands, creatures, and artifacts to quickly lock the board. Secondary win conditions include burn from Liliana's Caress and Megrim, attrition via Court of Ambition, or an alternate win through Revel in Riches. While the deck possesses oppressive stax capabilities, its reliance on sorcery-speed actions and a lack of dedicated protection leaves Tergrid vulnerable to well-timed instant removal.
