Deck overview

This deck is helmed by Squall, SeeD Mercenary, an Orzhov commander that grants double strike to any creature attacking alone and returns a permanent with mana value 3 or less from the graveyard to the battlefield whenever he deals combat damage to a player. Because double strike creates two separate combat damage steps, Squall can recur up to two permanents every combat. The deck leverages this capability by packing self-sacrificing utility creatures, artifact tokens, and an expansive Gates subtheme. Buffs from lands like Basilisk Gate and equipment like Glaive of the Guildpact turn Squall into a rapid commander damage threat. Concurrently, recurring control pieces such as Accursed Marauder, Kami of False Hope, and Cathar Commando systematically strip opposing boards and nullify incoming combat damage. Backup plans include alternate token attrition, poison damage via Persuasive Interrogators, and a Maze's End alternate win condition.
