Deck overview

This deck is a high-synergy Abzan Aristocrats Reanimator list helmed by Nethroi, Apex of Death. The core strategy revolves around deploying early mana acceleration and stocking the graveyard through self-mill and sacrifice fodder. Once 7 mana is reached, casting Nethroi for its mutate cost onto a non-Human creature reanimates up to 10 total power of creatures at once. Because key payoffs and modular creatures have low or zero base power (such as Phantom Nishoba, Ghave, Guru of Spores, Blood Artist, and Pitiless Plunderer), Nethroi routinely resurrects an entire board of combo pieces simultaneously. The deck can execute an infinite sacrifice and drain loop with Chatterfang, Squirrel General and Pitiless Plunderer or lock down opposing creature development with Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite and Butcher of Malakir. Supported by robust protection like Selfless Spirit and Shalai, Voice of Plenty, the deck recovers swiftly from board wipes by converting removed permanents into graveyard fuel.
