Deck overview

This Abzan deck is commanded by Betor, Ancestor's Voice, turning the dual axes of lifegain and life loss into massive board presence, continuous reanimation, and lethal drain combos. Early turns focus on accelerating mana with green ramp spells while establishing life-manipulation engines like Sylvan Library and Black Market Connections. Once Betor enters on Turn 4, end-step triggers immediately distribute +1/+1 counters and return key creatures from the graveyard. On Turn 5, the deck transitions to a must-answer state by deploying overwhelming threats like Bolas's Citadel, Nykthos Paragon, or assembling the infinite drain loop of Bloodthirsty Conqueror with Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose or Enduring Tenacity. Supported by resilient reanimation pieces and asymmetric wipes like Damning Verdict, the deck closes the game rapidly while maintaining substantial recovery and card draw.
