Deck overview

This Golgari deck leverages deathtouch tribal mechanics, poison counters, and asymmetric sacrifice attrition to grind down opponents. Commanded by The Serpent Society, the strategy turns every deathtouch creature into both a lethal combatant and a punitive deterrent. Whenever a deathtouch creature dies in combat or through sacrifice outlets like Fanatical Offering, each opponent must sacrifice a nontoken creature. The deck pairs deathtouch with trample enablers such as Vorrac Battlehorns, Ring of Kalonia, and Brawn, allowing creatures to assign just 1 lethal damage to blockers and trample the remaining damage over to players. Poison payoffs like Fynn, the Fangbearer, Necrogen Rotpriest, and Phyresis quickly turn combat damage into game-ending poison counters. A dense suite of low-cost protection spells shields key creatures from removal, while the commander's formidable Ward cost deters targeted interaction.
